An update from East Valley BBYO
AARON WIENER
Associate Regional Director of the BBYO Mountain Region
This past weekend, we celebrated East Valley’s first Lock-In for BBYO. With over 20 participants in attendance from Tovah BBG, Shapiro BBG, Felix Frankfurter AZA and Rabbi Marvin Meir Reznikoff, our teen leaders planned an amazing overnight program. From our program, Two Jews and a Lie, led by Lyndsey Klein and Ellie SIms, to a deep and meaningful separates program led by Ariella Golden and Ari Anderson (Frankfurter AZA), to a crazy active Scavenger Hunt – Capture the Flag event led by Jonathan Almog, our participants all left the next day excited and happy getting to spend the weekend together.
East Valley teen takes home ‘Mr. BBYO’ title
At our first convention of the year, Fall Convention, held in October in Prescott, one of our male teens, Jonathan Almog from Rabbi Marvin Meir Reznikoff, participated in our male pageant, MR BBYO. There was a swimsuit and formal round, as well as a talent round, where Jonathan sang a song from the movie,”A Star is Born.” It was in that moment, where Jonathan took home the title of MR BBYO for the next year!
Tovah BBG member accepted as a conference coordinator
We are so excited to share that Shelby Miller, an active member in Tovah BBG has been accepted as a coordinator for our upcoming Spirit Convention in January 2019. Shelby and her co, Gabe Friedman, from Tucson will get the chance to coordinate the entire convention, collaborate with the Associate Regional Director and Senior Regional Director, lead a steering team, and run the entire convention the weekend. We are so excited to have Shelby representing the East Valley!
