The Early Learning Center at the EVJCC has provided high-quality preschool and daycare in a safe, nurturing environment since 1971.
GOT QUESTIONS? WE’VE GOT ANSWERS!
What is the daily schedule at the preschool?
Our youngest infants have an individualized schedule, not only for their physical needs but also for their social/emotion, cognitive, motor and communication skills. As our children grow and develop, the schedule becomes more predictable – with naps for our older infants-Three year olds and our Pre-K enjoying a full day of instruction.
Our center is open 7 am – 6 pm, Monday through Friday, with flexibility in the hours parents choose.
What is the age range of the kids?
Our program begins at 6 weeks and continues through kindergarten. Learn more about the kindergarten here.
What sorts of activities will my child be participating in?
Each age range focuses on developmentally appropriate activities that encourage growth and development in all areas, including cognitive, fine motor, large motor, communication, problem solving and so much more. In our older infants, toddlers and twos, simple Sign Language is incorporated to help develop those language skills. Our twos through Pre-K enjoy learning Hebrew vocabulary that is relevant to their daily activities. Our Threes and Pre-K take their social and emotional learning to the next level, focusing on their language skills to get what they need and do all of this through daily S.T.E.A.M activities (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) and pre-writing and reading.
How much is tuition? Is there financial aid available?
Tuition varies based on the schedule you choose as a parent. Our Infants and Toddlers allow for a great deal of flexibility when it comes to scheduling with a minimum of 90 hours/month but no other constraints. Our Infants and Toddler families only pay for the hours scheduled!
Our Twos-Pre-K also enjoy flexibility in having the option to choose the days needed and only paying for the hours scheduled. Need only 8 a.m. -4 p.m.? No need to pay for 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
Financial aid is available for those who qualify. Generous financial assistance is available through Quality First. Reach out for a scholarship form.
Do you currently have availability?
Our center is open for you. There are a few spots available in each of our learning pods and we welcome you to the Early Learning Center at the East Valley JCC!
Do you provide food for the children?
We allow our families to choose the items they supply for their children for snacks and meals. In our toddlers-Pre-K, you have the option to purchase a kosher lunch, 3x/week from our kosher kitchen. This is an additional charge.
Does the EVJCC offer other types of programming?
The East Valley JCC has been in the Valley since 1971. While we have a high quality learning program for children 6 weeks-Pre-K and a kindergarten, we are also proud of our community programs, which include camps, adult education, holiday programs and arts & culture programming.
How long has your staff been working at the center?
We are proud of our experienced teachers, some who have been here for more than 20 years!
What qualifications do you require for your staff?
All of our teachers and caregivers have Level 1 Fingerprint clearance cards, are First Aid and CPR certified, have negative TB test results, are fully vaccinated and receive a minimum of 24 hours of continuing education credits during the year that include the most up-to-date information about providing excellence in early childhood education.
What if a child becomes ill at the ELC?
Anyone with a fever of 100 degrees or higher must be picked up within one hour and remain at home for at least 24 hours, returning only when they are fever-free, well enough to be at school and supply a doctor’s note.
What happens when my child goes to public school and their school is closed?
At the East Valley JCC, we are proud to offer fun, exciting camp programs throughout the year when Kindergarten and up don’t have school. Check out our camp page here!
