‘A Narrative of Inhumanity’

In his memoir , “On the Borderline of Extermination: A Narrative of Inhumanity,” Holocaust survivor Joseph Gershkowitz, shares his story of strategy and survival. His granddaughter, Dr. Rachel Bond, published his book, which was translated from Yiddish, and will share his story with Generations After. 

The book will be available for purchase ($20) and signing after her talk. All proceeds will be donated to a charitable cause. 

Dr. Rachel Marie Bond, is a distinguished cardiologist in Arizona, who has made significant contributions to improving heart disease treatment through early detection, education, and prevention. Inspired by her grandfather’s resilience as a Holocaust survivor, Dr. Bond became the first medical doctor in her family and remains motivated to address health disparities and promote diversity in the health-science profession.

Her advocacy extends to women’s heart health, maternal health, and reducing health inequities. As a member of national committees and boards, including the American College of Cardiology, she leads efforts nationally to tackle such issues. Dr. Bond’s commitment is further reflected in her role as a national spokesperson for the American Heart Associations “Go Red for Women” campaign, emphasizing the importance of heart health in women.

Her accolades, such as the coveted Nanette Wenger award for her efforts in healthcare advocacy and recognition as one of the most influential women in Arizona, attest to her impactful work and dedication to advancing healthcare.
