“Roots and Resilience: Tour Through Jewish Poland” presented by Eva Flaster
Wednesday, Jan. 15
11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Eva Flaster has always wanted to know more about her ancestral history. Through genealogical research and now her travel to Poland last summer, she has acquainted herself with the land that was home to many generations of her family. She was drawn to this tour through Jewish Poland because it was led by historian and professor Deborah Lipstadt, who is well-known for her books, for fighting against anti-Semitism, and for winning the libel battle against a Holocaust denier in England. This legal fight is covered by the 2016 film, “Denial.”
For the last three years, Eva Flaster has been the coordinator and facilitator for the Descendants Forum of the Phoenix Holocaust Association. This group of children and grandchildren of Holocaust survivors meets monthly at the Ina Levine Jewish Community Campus in Scottsdale. She is the daughter of Polish Holocaust survivors and was born in Landsberg, Germany in a Displaced Persons camp. At 18 months old, her family arrived in New York City, where she spent most of her life.
