Tuesdays at the J is a group for individuals and couples ages 55-plus who meet weekly to enjoy presentations on a variety of topics. The program starts with refreshments and conversation at 10 a.m. and the presentation starts at 10:30 a.m. Free, registration required.
About the author
Tara Ison is an award-winning novelist, essayist, short story writer, and professor. She is the author of three novels: The List (Scribner), A Child out of Alcatraz (Faber & Faber), a Finalist for The Los Angeles Times Book Prize, and Rockaway (Counterpoint/Soft Skull Press), featured as one of the “Best Books of Summer” in O, The Oprah Magazine, July 2013. Ball, a short story collection, was published in 2015, and her collection of essays, Reeling Through Life: How I Learned to Live, Love, and Die at the Movies, was winner of the 2015 PEN Southwest Book Award for Creative Nonfiction.
Her newest novel, At the Hour Between Dog and Wolf, is the story of a young Jewish girl in WWII France, living in hiding as a Catholic orphan. The novel explores identity and survival, and the insidious influence of anti-Semitic and Fascist ideologies. She is currently professor of fiction in Arizona State University’s creative writing program.
