Tuesdays at the J is a group for individuals and couples ages 55-plus who meet weekly to enjoy presentations on a variety of topics. Past programs have included live musical performances by local musicians and art presentations by museum docents and artists, as well as presentations by authors and more. All sessions are free and no membership is required. The program starts at 10 a.m. with refreshments and the presentations are 10:30-11:30 a.m.
Leisah Woldoff, East Valley JCC director of communications, will discuss her new book, “52 Weeks in 2021: A Songwriting Journey,” as well as provide a look at how technology has affected the music industry and songwriting through the years.
“52 Weeks in 2021: A Songwriting Journey” explores Leisah’s songwriting journey in a blog format, sharing 52 songs over 52 weeks during the year she turned 52. The project was partly a distraction – as the author was approaching the age her mom died from pancreatic cancer – and partly a way to get her songs out into the world. Each chapter represents a different week in 2021 and features an original song. Many of the songs are relevant to that particular week, whether it be a holiday or a significant world event. Topics include the COVID-19 pandemic, relationships, motherhood and billionaires traveling into space. The book includes lyrics and access to the song recordings. Her book is available on Amazon here.
