Tuesdays at the J is a group for individuals and couples ages 55-plus who meet weekly to enjoy presentations on a variety of topics. Fall programs include live musical performances by local musicians and art presentations by museum docents, as well as workshops about wellness, Jewish holidays, music and genealogy . Register below to receive information on how to access the sessions. New members are always welcome and no membership is required to attend Tuesday at the J programs. The group is coordinated by Adrian Bendick. See the fall schedule below.

Tuesday, Oct. 5: Violin performance by Julie Ivanhoe

 

Music of Broadway

Julie Ivanhoe has a Bachelor of Music Education and Bachelor of Music Therapy from ASU. She also has a master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Phoenix. Julie played in a semi-professional orchestra in Stockton, CA for one year while interning. She taught orchestra in the Chandler schools for 31 years, retiring four years ago.

Julie has taught private violin lessons on and off for the past 35 years. She played in the MCC community Orchestra for four years and will play in the Chandler Symphony once COVID subsides.  Julie has played with Congregation NefeshSoul fort four years as well.

Julie is married to Jon Ivanhoe with three kids, a puppy, two grandkids  and two grand puppies. She loves to garden, play music, travel and especially spend time with family.

Oct. 26: Klezmer musical performance by Odessa

Nov. 2: “Chopin: Bold, Imaginative, Introspective,” a lecture-recital by concert pianist Elias-Axel Pettersson

Nov. 9: Museum at the J (Topic TBD)

Nov. 16: “Bridge Generation: Preserving Your Family’s Story,” exploring the benefits and challenges of preserving your family history, presented by Daughters of Jacob Genealogy

Nov. 30: Holiday at the J: Chanukah with Rabbi Herschel Brodie of Temple Beth Sholom of the East Valley

Dec. 7: ‘Was Elvis Jewish?’ presentation by Dan Fellner, university instructor and travel writer/photographer
