We are appreciative for the recent generous grant from the Sundt Foundation for our Ladles of Love program, which delivers meals to individuals in need!
Pictured above, Mike Canter from the Sundt Foundation distributes a check for the program to Rabbi Michael Beyo, East Valley JCC CEO.
Ladles of Love mobilizes volunteers to participate one Sunday a month to cook and deliver meals to individuals and families Valleywide.
A big thank you to Kay Lapid, Ladles of Love coordinator, and we appreciate all the volunteers who have committed their time and energy to preparing and delivering the meals this past year.
For the April delivery, students at Beth El Congregation’s Talmud Torah in Phoenix collected toiltries for the meal recipients and wrote them nice cards, a gesture very much appreciated by our meal recipients. We would love to partner with additional schools and synagogues in the fall; please contact Leisah Woldoff to get involved.
Over the year, Ladles of Love provides more than 2,500 meals to seniors, families and children in need of a nutritious meal, according to Rabbi Beyo, and “next year we are planning to increase that number to even more.”
Recipients also include children enrolled in the center’s preschool and camp.
Thank you also to the Arizona Community Foundation Season of Sharing and Albertsons-Safeway for additional grants.
The next delivery is Sunday, Sept. 8.
